Requirements

To be selected as an Ambassador is an honor and an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth. Students who are selected as Ambassadors possess strong interpersonal skills, consider philanthropy important, have excellent leadership qualities, and have a genuine interest in meeting new people, as well as a sense of school spirit and pride. 

Requirements to Apply:

  • Candidates must be able to commit to participating in a phone interview, group interview and a panel interview.
  • Candidates are asked to commit to being an Ambassador for the time they are students at FIU, but no less than one full academic year including Fall, Summer and Spring semesters.
  • Candidates must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and must be enrolled in at least nine (9) credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Candidates must be available to attend all meetings, which take place on Thursdays from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Class should not be scheduled during this time. An exception may be made by the Student Ambassador Judiciary Board and Advisor if a student is pending graduation, during the Ambassador’s senior year.
  • Candidates must not have a disciplinary record or charges within the university judicial system.
  • Candidates must make a commitment to the mission of the university and the Student Ambassador Program, and possess the following personal qualities: desire to learn, enthusiasm, leadership, responsibility, dependability, maturity, initiative, dedication and punctuality.

Below are some of the events that ambassadors are asked to commit to supporting. Ambassadors commit to a minimum of 1 year of active service, however they are welcomed and encouraged to serve as ambassadors for their entire collegiate career.

Ambassador Requirements:

Below are some of the events that ambassadors are asked to commit to supporting. Ambassadors commit to a minimum of 1 year of active service, however they are welcomed and encouraged to serve as ambassadors for their entire collegiate career.
  • Two (2) campus tours per year
  • One social event per semester
  • One community service event per academic year
  • Freshmen Convocation (August)
  • Student Ambassador Leadership Retreat (Fall, 2 Day & Spring, 1 Day)
  • Trail of the Torch (October)
  • Homecoming alumni event (October)
  • Grad Bash (November)
  • Panther Alumni Week Kick Off
  • Panther Alumni Week Reception
  • Dining with 12 Panthers (1 Event Per Year – Participant)
  • Torch Awards (April)
  • Grad Bash (November/April)
  • Fishing Tournament (June)
